Blogging

What is the point of blogging? What's the point of having people comment on my blogs?

Recently blogging has become the in thing. For a while before that I had been considering getting one just so I could write the stuff I feel somewhere other than a journal. I wasn't going to tell anyone I know about it cos that isn't the point of blogging to me but then I moved out of home and I figured my family and friends might like to keep up with where I'm at.

So I have my blog and I have allowed other people to view it. But what about the comments thing. Are they there so people can say what they think or so they can agree or disagree or are they there for no reason? And if people have the ability to comment on my blog should I take it personally or just as their views?

I really don't know the answers to these questions. I write what I feel or whatever and if people comment and they are rude or harsh about it (yes paul I'm talking about you) I take it personally. I don't expect people to agree with me. By now I have learnt that how I feel is almost always different from everyone else. But I do expect there to be some respect for how I feel.

If what I feel offends people then I won't blog. There's no point to it and you have missed my point.

You offended me by how you said it. It's fine saying what your opinion is but I'd prefer if you used less aggressive ways of doing it.

Another Andrew! Wow Jo this is a growing, reaching out, interacting thing. It started off with txting, this seems the next logical step because what you are thinking needs to be out there. I have read Steve's blog for quite a while and last year he had struggles too about to blog or not though for other reasons. People like Paul will appear and because it is web log they are allowed to, that's part of it all no matter how they give their opinion. Please dont stop, I am amazed at the variety of subjects, insights, humour and intelligence in the blogs I read most days.
Your first blog said you did it for me, now I must ask, PLEASE DONT GIVE UP! xx

No matter what anyones opinion is, someone is going to be offended by me. If you say "I like birds" then there's going to be a bunch (or should I say flock) of members of the "I HATE BIRDS CLUB" disagreeing with you.

6 Billion people in the world, and 6 Billion different opinions.

Yeah, he's right. The key to having opinions is not caring too much about them. I have opinions, but I know that nothing is certian but God and His love. (nope, not even death and taxes). So passion has to be balanced with reason. Remember, once upon a time, the earth was flat.

Argh, I didnt want to say anything but I have to. Paul if you think your comments were mere opinion I suggest you go back and read them over again. And perhaps get your mother to read them too and see what she thinks. Opinion is great but personal attacks are not.
Dont let it stop you blogging Jo.
